PRHK, representing PR and communications practitioners in Hong Kong, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding for mutual cooperation with the Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA), representing practitioners in the UK, Middle East & North Africa, and Southeast Asia.
PRHK is Hong Kong’s industry organisation for PR and communications professionals. It represents, champions, promotes and supports the Hong Kong public relations and communications industry, its professionals, its affiliates, its academic institutions and their students. Established in 2001, PRHK is a forum for discussion, learning and networking; an advocate for the industry and monitor of best practices within it; an interface between industry, academia, the business community, government and affiliated media and marketing sectors; and a point of entry for overseas companies, individuals and associations into Hong Kong’s PR scene.
Founded in 1969, the PRCA operates in 66 countries around the world, and has offices in London, Dubai, and Singapore. Representing practitioners across the whole range of the PR and communications industry, the PRCA promotes all aspects of public relations and communications work, helping teams and individuals maximise the value they deliver to clients and organisations. It is the world’s largest PR association, representing in excess of 30,000 practitioners.
The MoU covers the next three years, and via it the two organisations have agreed that:
• PRHK and PRCA members will obtain reciprocal rights to attend one-another’s events at member rates
• PRHK and PRCA will endeavour to create joint events
• PRHK and PRCA will extend speaking opportunities to one another’s members
• PRHK and PRCA will host a joint event in the ICCO House of PR at Cannes
• PRHK will have a permanent presence at the ICCO House of PR at Cannes, with appropriate marketing and branding
• PRHK and PRCA will not extend their territorial coverage to include areas currently serviced by the other organisation.
Francis Ingham MPRCA, Director General, PRCA, and Chief Executive, ICCO, said: “This is a great moment for practitioners throughout the region. By collaborating in this manner, we can offer an even broader range of services to our respective memberships, and pursue our common goal of raising standards throughout the industry.”
Kiri Sinclair, Chair, PRHK, said: “PRHK’s mission is to represent, champion, promote and grow the public relations and communications industry in Hong Kong, and through this exciting partnership with PRCA we create a platform for our members to showcase their work and talent on a global stage, while opening up sharing, learning and networking opportunities.”
Hong Kong and Singapore are both home to the regional headquarters of numerous multinational corporations and frequently serve as hubs for coordinating campaigns across the Asia-Pacific region. Membership of the PRCA and PRHK in these two markets indicates that agencies and practitioners are operating to the highest international standards.
