PRHK APPOINTS BOARD FOR 2019/20 WITH FOCUS ON PR’S ABILITY TO SHAPE OUTCOMES FOR BUSINESS AND SOCIETY

September 26th 2019

Active calendar of PRHK activities – such as PR Young Lions, mentorship scheme and learning events – will all work towards this goal

26 September 2019, Hong Kong – Today, PRHK, the industry organisation representing PR and communications professionals in Hong Kong, unveils its new board for 2019/20 and announces its direction for the coming year: to demonstrate PR’s ability to drive change and shape outcomes.

Marc Sparrow, chair of PRHK, said: “The role of public relations plays an increasingly prominent and decisive role in modern society. We had a discussion as a board on what PRs in Hong Kong should do to capitalise on the industry’s opportunities, and tackle its challenges. The conclusion came down to one crucial point: that we as a profession need to communicate what modern, impactful and effective PR looks like; and what it can deliver in terms of commercial results and the ability to shape desired outcomes. And that’s what the PRHK board has agreed it will focus on this year.”

This year’s board features a diverse mix of backgrounds and experience with people from local, regional and global PR agencies, and the appointment of four professionals aged 30 or under.

PRHK’s traditional areas of focus – promoting higher standards, showcasing best practice and cultivating the next generation of talent – remain as relevant as ever and will form part of its drive to persuade Hong Kong business and society of the value of effective communications.

Individual chairs are drawing up programmes in events, mentorship, and university engagement (among other things) to reflect this direction. PRHK will also be refreshing the content on its revamped website to showcase the excellent work that members are delivering.

Following the success of this year’s Hong Kong PR Young Lions winners, who went on to win bronze in the main event in Cannes, the competition will continue in 2020 and see two young PR professionals travel once more to the Festival of Creativity in France. Other items in the works include best practice guidelines on how to work with agencies and curated training events.

In recognition of shifting organisational requirements, PRHK has introduced two new board roles for partnerships and memberships. The following PR professionals are the PRHK board members for 2019/20:
