Communications Strategies for Start-Ups – 7 October 2020

Hosted by Fraser Li, Senior Reporter, Hong Kong Economic Times, the event debated how start-ups, especially those in Hong Kong, are able to cut through the noise and stand out in a crowded, and often noisy, marketplace.

Joining Fraser was Toya Zhang, Communications Director, AAX; Chee Sing Chan, Content Strategist, Edelman and Christina Lai, Senior Vice President, Fleishman Hillard.  Their combined experience, which includes communications consultancy, journalism and direct experience of working within start-up companies, ensured that the advice covered the entire spectrum of the industry.

The debate was wide-ranging, covering topics from how to generate the attention of financial backers and deciding on the initial branding, through to developing your unique selling point and building market share.  The panel also debated how Hong Kong based startups can take advantage of the SAR’s position, both in the region and as part of the Greater Bay Area, to help build partnerships and drive attention.

Over 50 Hong Kong professionals tuned in for the event and attendees submitted questions for the panel including how to differentiate from the competition, dealing with potential branding conflicts and competition.
